Bubblegum and Butterflies by Lynette Ferreira

Sometimes, the greatest loves are born from accidents and end in farewells.

In a small South African town, 15-year-old Charlize seems to have it all: popularity, beauty, and a bright future. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Daniel, the town's notorious bad boy, spends his days mastering tricks at the local skate park and avoiding responsibility.

Their worlds collide when Daniel, showing off on his skateboard, crashes into Charlize outside their high school. The accident leaves Charlize with a broken arm and Daniel's bubblegum tangled in her hair. Furious and humiliated, Charlize vows to make Daniel's life miserable, while he dismisses her as just another uptight popular girl.

As part of his punishment, Daniel is assigned to help Charlize catch up with her schoolwork. Forced to spend time together, they begin to see beyond their initial impressions. Charlize discovers Daniel's hidden depths and his struggles with an absent father. Daniel, in turn, learns about the pressure Charlize faces to be perfect and her secret passion for photography.

Their mutual animosity slowly transforms into friendship and then blossoms into first love. Daniel teaches Charlize to skateboard, while she helps him believe in his potential beyond his bad-boy reputation. Together, they explore their town with new eyes, finding beauty in unexpected places.
But their newfound happiness is threatened when Charlize reveals that her family is immigrating to Australia at the end of the year. As the move approaches, Daniel and Charlize must navigate the pain of impending separation and the intensity of young love.

Frequently Asked Questions: Author's Rights to Share Content

Q: Are you allowed to share chapters of your books on this website?

A: Yes, absolutely. As the author and copyright holder of all works published under my name (Lynette Ferreira), I have full rights to distribute my content as I see fit. This includes sharing chapters or entire books for free on my personal website.

Q: Isn't this copyright infringement?

A: Not at all. Copyright infringement occurs when someone uses copyrighted material without the owner's permission. As the author and copyright owner, I am giving myself permission to share my own work.

Q: Why are you sharing your books for free? Doesn't this hurt your sales?

A: I've been a published author since 2008, and I'm now in a position where I can give back to my readers. Sharing chapters for free is my way of thanking my audience and potentially introducing new readers to my work. While it might seem counterintuitive, many authors find that sharing content for free can actually boost overall readership and sales.

Q: What if I find your content on another website?

A: If you find my content reproduced on another website without my permission, please let me know. While I have the right to share my work, others do not have the right to copy and distribute it without my consent.

Q: Can I share these free chapters with others?

A: While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I kindly ask that you direct others to my website to read the free chapters. This helps me keep track of readership and ensures that readers have access to the most up-to-date versions of the chapters.

Q: Do you still sell full versions of your books?

A: Yes, complete versions of my books are still available for purchase through various retailers.

If you have any other questions about my rights to share content or my publishing practices, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
